Cataract Surgery (Phacoemulsification)

Cataract is the opacity of the lens and loss of transparency. Cataract is the most common age-related disease and the only treatment is surgery. The most advanced technique in cataract surgery is phacoemulsification, phaco surgery. The first procedure before surgery is to calculate the number of the lens to be inserted into the eye. In phaco surgery, it is anesthetized with eye drops. Approximately 2 mm incision is entered into the eye and the cataract is cleaved by ultrasonographic sound waves. In the last stage, an artificial lens is placed inside the eye to provide clear vision. The quality is very important as the lens will remain in the eye for life. The lenses can be worn to provide distant vision or both distant and near vision. Since the incision is very small, there is no need to stitch. In this way, the healing process is very fast and comfortable.
